National Park De Groote Peel

National Park de Groote Peel near Ospel is definitely worth a visit. You can cross swamps by means of rustic bridges, cycle over hilly roads which are hardly inaccessible for cars (due to soft peat) and discover meres, birds and so on.

De Groote Peel is one of the few remnants of the immense moorland which used to form the border between Brabant and Limburg. Nowadays it is a wonderful scenic area, mainly known for its many birds. The watery, vast landscape reminds of the old days. It used to be a place to avoid, nowadays it’s a great place for walks! You will find many traces of the past, when hard workers excavated the soil for peat (‘the black gold of the Peel’).

De Groote Peel is situated at approximately 15 km of the campsite.

'Mooder' Maas

The river Maas enters The Netherlands in Limburg and flows along a couple of villages and cities near Camping Beringerzand. For a nice walk along the Maas you should go to the villages Baarlo and Kessel, both situated at approximately 15 km of the campsite.

Maasplassen (lake area)

De Maasplassen (3000 hect) is the largest continuous water sports area of the Netherlands. This lake area is situated in Middle Limburg, between various villages and cities, such as for example Roermond. De Maasplassen were created by gravel extraction, mainly in the 20st century. Large, continues lakes came into being. Along the lakes you will find various restaurants, terraces, marinas, beaches and scenic areas.
